What will I learn?
This course aims to introduce learners to the concept of Digital Photography and to explain the meaning and importance of basic photographic terminology. It also aims to encourage learners to explore and experiment with some of their own camera’s range of modes when taking pictures.
During the course learners will:
● Explore the different types of Digital Cameras available
● Explore basic photographic terminology e.g. Exposure, Aperture, Shutter Speed and Depth of Field
● Discover the things to consider before taking a photograph to improve results
● Explore and discover the range of shooting modes available on your own camera
● Take photographs using and without using the ‘Automatic Mode’.
Is this course for me?
This course is for complete beginners. It is for learners who are new to the concept of ‘Digital Photography’ and who have little or no previous knowledge or experience. It is for learners who wish to explore what Digital Photography is and to gain an understanding of the terms and terminology.
Your camera needs to have Aperture Priority setting and Shutter Priority Setting functions to get the most out of your sessions.
During the course, the tutor will provide small group demonstrations and individual support to ensure that learners can work at their own level and at their own pace.
What do I need to bring?
Camera fully charged batteries. Laptop to download images but Not essentail. Please bring a pen and paper.
This course runs over lunchtime, please bring your own packed lunch.
How will I know that my skills have improved?
At the start, you will decide (with help from your tutor) what you want to get out of the course. You will have the opportunity to review your progress and at the end of the course, you will have the chance to reflect on what you have learnt and how your skills have improved.
